​Maria Clara Barbosa

B.A. in Music from UNIRIO, taught in public and private schools. Participated in several groups playing the “cavaquinho” (a small string instrument of the European guitar family similar to the ukulele). Recorded, directed and produced CDs, DVDs and other midia. Member of The Latin Recording Academy. 
Conductor and arranger, has created the Orquestra Popular Tuhu and coordinated the Projeto Villa-Lobos e as Crianças, a socially-minded initiative dedicated to the professionalization of young musicians from the poor communities of Rio de Janeiro.
Since 1988, carries out cultural activities in the Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (also known as FIOCRUZ, a scientific institution for research and development in biomedical sciences which is considered one of the world's main public health research institutions).
